a day on the farm!

back to my roots!  fall is harvest season!  i was able to spend some time with my family on the farm a few weeks ago.  growing up, fall was such a great time of year, and for a farming family, a VERY BUSY time of year!  it was great to revisit these memories, and as an adult, you appreciate them that much more!  enjoy these beautiful photos!  my brother kept telling me to put away my camera and quit acting like i was on a field trip! :)  probably true...but i couldn't get enough!

"Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord's coming.  See how the farmer waits for the land to yield it's valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains.  You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near."
James 5:7-8

"Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops;
then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine."
Proverbs 3:9-10

"Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven.  The Lord will indeed give what is good, and our land will yield its harvest.  Righteousness goes before him and prepares the way for his steps."
Psalms 85:11-13

"Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest."
Exodus 34:21

GO HUSKERS!

in addition to all of the other fall photos, i just wanted to post a beautiful shot of my husband in Husker Red as i'm worried we won't be seeing this much in the future!  we had the opportunity to spend a little time in lincoln for the nebraska vs. texas game a few weeks ago.  more recently, this past weekend, he wore an iowa t-shirt to the nebraska tailgate so i just wanted to put this one on the record books! :)

smile for the camera, babe!

all things fall!

i love fall.  beautiful foliage, pumpkins, crisp air, wearing jeans, colorful leaves, football games, campfires, eating chili, everything apple; apple crisp, carmel apples, hot apple cider, visiting the apple orchard....oh and celebrating my birthday! :)  we've been blessed with a fall like no other!  ok, so maybe i'm a little obsessed but seeing all of this beauty makes me so thankful that we serve such an amazing God!  i never would have come up with this!  :)  here's a glimpse of what we've been up to this fall!

FOOTBALL

welcome to the Snyder's!

oh boy, are we ready for football season or what?!  it was a successful first weekend for both the Huskers and the Hawkeyes!  this is the last year that our teams will not play each other.  we're counting down the days to the first Husker/Hawkeye game (next year) since my hubby was in college (when Nebraska absolutely KILLED his Hawks!).  in preparation for this season, we decorated football cookies on date night (thanks, i'll take the credit for that idea)!  it was a success!  enjoy the photos!

labor day already?

seriously, where did the summer go?  labor day is officially the end.  the pools close and football starts.  we are pretty geared up for the season though, i must admit.  this is the last time each of our teams will be in separate conferences.  we plan to go to a couple of Iowa games as well as visit our friends in Lincoln to celebrate the Huskers!  i'm definitely looking forward to the crisp weather...and then next year, it's on!

Chris is finishing his masters in business this fall!  every tuesday he takes a class here at UNO and every other week he flies to Chicago to take the final class (which he is required to be in the class to graduate) from Lewis University.  i'm definitely not envious, but i AM a very proud wife!

i recently designed a breast cancer awareness retail display at my salon.  there is a contest for all of us employees of Aquage, and the winner gets an iPad!  every September and October, Aquage makes PINK cans of their Finishing Spray and they donate a dollar of each sale to the Susan G. Komen foundation!  blue is the main color of each of the products in the line so the pink cans draw a lot of attention!  i'll share my pictures below!

crazy summer!

it has really been a crazy summer!  i guess it always is though, right?! Chris has been traveling to Texas and Arizona quite a bit for work and i've tagged along as much as i can.  i've been busy at the salon and also busy with Aquage preparing for a crazy fall show season.  we are so enjoying this time in our lives when we are not tied down with animals or kids to focus on our careers and our marriage!

on May 22nd, we celebrated Chris' 29th birthday in South Padre, TX!  we were there for an HFMA conference...but don't worry, the celebration continued through the weekend with our friends and family.  it was the never-ending birthday!

June 12th was our 1st anniversary!  we were thrilled to actually be home!  Chris booked us dinner reservations at Loft 610, a new restaurant close to home, and we spent the morning at the farmer's market and the afternoon relaxing!  it was an amazing day!  the first year of marriage threw us a few curve balls, i.e. travels, layoffs, etc. but it's only made us stronger!  we now feel we can take on about anything!  :)

celebrating 1 year!

1 year ago...time flies!

within the last month, we've each taken business trips to Las Vegas for national meetings!  i got to go with Chris in June to the national HFMA conference but unfortunately he didn't get to travel with me to the Aquage national meeting this month.  we also celebrated the 4th of July this month at Lake Okoboji with family and friends!  it was a FABULOUS weekend and the fireworks over the lake were stunning!!!

with all of this crazy work stuff being said, i'll leave you with a verse i like to keep at the forefront:

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.  Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.  But if you do what is wrong, you will be paid back for the wrong you have done.  For God has no favorites.
Colossians 3: 23-25

June 25, 1913-April 21, 2010

On April 21, Chris lost his grandpa Alex.  After almost 97 years on this earth, we pray he is with the Lord! Alex Snyder lived a FULL life, spending the last 50+ years in his home in Lansing, IL next to wonderful neighbors!  Up until his final breath, Alex still maintained his driver's license and enjoyed baking, planting his garden and fixing lawn mowers in his tool shed! He will truly be missed!
